I was born in San Antonio, Texas. My mother and grandmother were both artists. I began painting as a child under their direction and knew early on that art would always be a big part of my life. After working in graphic design for more than 16 years, I picked up a brush again in 2007.
In addition to contemporary portraits, my focus is a figurative work of art called the Red Shoe series. My subjects are anonymous, drawn from the shoulders, waist, or knees down and always portrayed with red shoes. Through detail and composition I paint a story often interpreted by viewers who relate to the artwork through anonymity. More and more frequently, I am commissioned to paint these “red shoe stories” which now hang in several collections throughout the United States, Canada and Great Britain.
